Fun and Easy Halloween Costume Ideas for Babies

Baby’s first Halloween? 🎃 You don’t need an elaborate costume to make it ridiculously cute.

For babies, the best Halloween costumes are often the simplest: soft, comfortable, easy to move in and - importantly - easy to get off when it’s time for a nappy change.

If you’re looking for easy Halloween costumes for babies, here are some fun ideas that don’t require squeezing your little one into an uncomfortable fancy-dress outfit.

1. A Little Leopard 🐆

Possibly the easiest costume of them all.

Start with a leopard-print sleepsuit, add a pair of soft cat ears and you have an instant tiny leopard. A little face paint on older babies can complete the look, but it’s just as cute without.

Our Näpp Leopard Pop sleepsuits make an especially easy Halloween outfit - and unlike a costume they’ll wear once, they can go straight back into the everyday wardrobe afterwards.

2. Baby Pumpkin 🎃

A Halloween classic for a reason.

An orange or rust-coloured outfit can quickly become a pumpkin costume with a little green hat or headband. If you’re feeling crafty, cut a jack-o'-lantern face from black felt and attach it temporarily to the front.

Simple, cosy and perfect for those first Halloween photos.

3. Tiny Black Cat 🐈⬛

You really don't need much for this one.

Dress baby in black or a dark sleepsuit, add soft cat ears and — if they’ll tolerate it - a little whisker-inspired face paint. For very young babies, skip the accessories entirely and simply place a little cat-ear headband nearby for the photo.

4. A Very Hungry Caterpillar 🐛

Colourful babies deserve colourful Halloween costumes.

Layer bright reds and greens, add a soft red hat and you have an instantly recognisable caterpillar-inspired look. This is a particularly fun option if beige Halloween costumes aren't really your thing.

5. Little Monster 👹

This one has absolutely no rules.

Choose the brightest sleepsuit you can find, add some felt horns to a hat and embrace the chaos. Pink monster? Purple monster? Leopard-print monster?

Even better.

6. Baby Bat 🦇

A dark sleepsuit makes the perfect starting point for a simple baby bat costume.

Add lightweight fabric wings for photos, making sure they're removed before baby sleeps or is left unattended. It's an easy last-minute baby Halloween costume that looks much more impressive than the effort involved.

7. Flower Power Baby 🌸

Halloween doesn't have to mean ghosts and pumpkins.

A colourful sleepsuit paired with a soft flower headband makes an adorable little flower costume. You could even coordinate siblings or parents as gardeners, bees or butterflies for an easy family Halloween costume.

8. The World's Cutest Superhero 🦸

Sometimes all you need is a cape.

Choose baby's favourite sleepsuit and add a lightweight cape for a few supervised Halloween photos. Make up your own superhero name and you've got a completely unique costume without buying another outfit.

Just remember to remove capes and other accessories immediately afterwards.

Baby Halloween Costumes Don't Have to Be Complicated

There’s something very sweet about dressing up for baby's first Halloween - but it doesn't have to mean buying a polyester costume they'll wear for an hour.

Using clothes they already wear as the base of a costume can be easier, more comfortable and less wasteful. Add a simple accessory, take the obligatory pumpkin photo, then remove the extras and their outfit goes straight back to being an everyday sleepsuit.

At Näpp, our colourful bamboo lyocell sleepsuits are made for little personalities. They're soft, stretchy and designed with practical double-ended zips - because even on Halloween, nappy changes don't stop.

Bold prints. Seriously soft sleepsuits. No beige required.

Happy Halloween from näpp. 🎃
