🌿 Why bamboo?
Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth, able to regenerate quickly without the need for replanting. It requires relatively little water and can grow without pesticides, making it a more sustainable raw material. Bamboo also absorbs significant amounts of CO₂ and releases oxygen back into the atmosphere, helping to support a healthier ecosystem.
At näpp®, all the bamboo in our clothes is sourced from FSC®-certified forests. This means the material comes from responsibly managed forests that are independently audited to strict environmental and social standards. The Forest Stewardship Council® ensures biodiversity is protected, ecosystems are maintained and workers and local communities are treated fairly. It's a way of ensuring that the bamboo is grown and harvested with long-term care for both people and the planet.
Not all bamboo is equal. Here at näpp® we use bamboo lyocell. Bamboo lyocell is considered a more advanced and responsible alternative to traditional bamboo viscose. It's made using a closed-loop process that recycles water and solvents, resulting in lower environmental impact.
Bamboo lyocell is naturally soft, breathable and gentle on delicate skin, making it ideal for day and night wear. Its moisture wicking properties help keep little ones cool in the heat and cosy when it's cooler, while the smooth fibres feel silky against the skin. Durable and long-lasting, it's a fabric designed for comfort, everyday wear and repeated use.
🧵 Quality Fabric
Quality in baby sleepwear comes down to more than just how it looks - it's about how the fabric performs, wash after wash. Fabric weight, measured in GSM (grams per square metre), is a key indicator of that quality. Lower GSM fabrics can feel thin and wear out quickly, while higher GSM fabrics offer better durability, structure, and a more premium feel. At näpp, we use 260 GSM bamboo lyocell - striking the ideal balance between softness, breathability, and long-lasting quality - so each sleepsuit keeps its shape, stays silky-soft, and is made to be worn, loved, and passed on.
🛡️ Safety Standards
All our garments carry the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification. This means every part of our fabric, from the fibres to the dyes and threads, has been independently tested for harmful substances and is safe for even the most sensitive skin. For babywear, this provides added reassurance that each piece is gentle, non-irritating and made to the highest safety standards.

Our partner factory is BSCI-compliant, meaning it adheres to internationally recognised standards for fair working conditions, including safe workplaces, fair wages and ethical labour practices.
